Heart Warrior Stories Brandon C.

Hi,

I am Brandon, a father of a heart angel and Vice-President of Remington’s Heart Foundation.

My daughter Remi was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome which is a critical congenital heart defect. She was born on the first day of heart month on February 1st, 2017. She was a rockstar and was sent home quickly after surgery, unfortunately, less than a week later she went into cardiac arrest. Her brother and sisters watched as the ambulance left, in a video, I hear myself telling them “she will come home soon”. After nearly two hours of CPR, she was hooked up to ECMO. Not only did she have a CCHD, she now had severe brain damage and passed away on March 25th, 2017.

Her story is incredibly long for her for nearly two months of life. She inspired us, her siblings, our family, and thousands of others who followed her story. When she passed away we wanted her memory to help other CHD families, to allow her siblings to watch her name grow, and to be a part of it all for the greater good.

Remi was sweet, beautiful, and strong!

Her baby brother (our 9-month-old rainbow) was born during the lockdown and was in the NICU for two weeks when he was born, luckily he is heart-healthy but our fight to help CHD families continue.

Donations have nearly been extremely low while assistance request has doubled, we are 100% volunteer-driven allowing us to use every resource possible to help.

Remington’s life was beautiful and her strength continues in the hearts of all the little warriors she helps. We have connected with several heart families some we’ve helped, some have joined us to help others. A community we remain in even after a loss.

Thank you for creating CHD-themed products and raising awareness. We hope we get the opportunity to purchase a few to add to our 2021 care packages, but we know they are extremely popular.

If we can help in any way, count us in!
