I got pregnant when I was 18 years old. Little did I know my life was about to change forever! My daughter was diagnosed with CHD, shortly after she was born. I had her in Louisiana and she was sent to Arkansas Children’s Hospital. She was sick. They told me she wasn’t going to make it. They told me to tell my baby goodbye because she had no life in her.

Three days later I was able to go to ACH. My OB flew me on his private plane. At 7 days old my lifeless daughter had her first open-heart surgery. We came home two months later then got sent back for her second open-heart surgery when she was 3.5 months old. She’s had a total of 5 open-heart surgeries.

She is 12 years old and life is such a struggle for her. She has learning disabilities, she has cognitive disabilities. She also has A LOT of medical issues. But she is the happiest little girl you’ll ever meet! She’s now a big sister and we ordered the heart warrior paci for her little sister. She’ll be using it for the month of February!
